Meet Ilana Segel

Meet Ilana Segal, the new student intern at Hallard Press. A native of Tampa, she is a senior at Florida State University in Tallahassee majoring in English and minoring in Business and Communications.

“I have always loved books since before I can remember,” she reports. “My very first memory is of my parents reading me classic goodnight stories like Goodnight Moon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and my absolute favorite, A Bad Case of Stripes.”

Later on, Ilana got into ‘speedreading.’ “I found myself finishing full trilogies in a couple of days. The Divergent Series was one of the first that I read in its entirety in one day.” She says that during grade school she was not allowed to have a phone or TV in her bedroom, so she developed a habit of reading instead. “With my first check from babysitting I bought a clip-on headboard lamp so I could read at night without disturbing my parents.”

At Hallard Press Ilana’s assignments will include working on social media projects as well as writing for Hallard Press Gazette and Breakfast Serial. She expects to graduate at the end of this spring semester and will be applying to law school while also pursuing her writing career.
