IBPA Conference in Orlando

Virtual and In-Person

The Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) has announced a flexible IBPA Publishing University conference in 2022. This flagship event for IBPA, taking place continuously since 1984, is the leading annual meeting for small publishers, author-publishers, and other professionals in the independent publishing industry.

IBPA Publishing University 2022 will present a top-notch educational agenda over a two-part, virtual and in-person format. The virtual program will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, April 20-21, and on the following week, attendees will convene at the beautiful Renaissance Orlando in Florida, for two days of sessions and networking Friday and Saturday, April 29-30.

“We designed the conference with flexibility, and our members’ needs at top of minds,” said IBPA CEO Angela Bole. With the economy opening up, many are eager to go back to face-to-face conferences but taking a continuous four days away from work may prove difficult for some. Therefore, the split agenda with one week in between allows members to fit a conference into a busy work schedule. At the same time, there are some who may not yet feel ready to travel, and they have the option to participate in the virtual-only portion of the conference.

The complete IBPA Publishing University 2022 conference experience (called the ALL ACCESS ticket) could include another – optional – day of Orlando-based field trips, currently being planned for Sunday, May 1.

“IBPA is also flexible in recognizing that the COVID situation is ever evolving,” said Bole. “ALL ACCESS ticket holders can register with confidence knowing they can modify their ticket to a VIRTUAL ONLY ticket at any time and the difference in registration fees will be returned without penalty.”

Watch for further announcements in the next few weeks. IBPA will post a call for speakers, and open the event website for registration soon.
